Many people would not even imagine how many ways the slightly larger, so-called Portobello mushroom or grill can also be prepared at a summer barbecue. For grilling it is recommended to use larger grill mushrooms with open hat or finger-thick slices called steak mushrooms. These mushrooms behave on the grill like meat, they are fried quickly and remain pleasant juicy thanks to the short cooking time.
Here you have some tips and tricks for quick and easy BBQ Mushroom dishes with different flavors:
- One of the simplest preparations if you place juicy tomato slices on the large open-hat mushrooms and then sprinkle them with a tasty dressing of olive oil, chopped parsley, chives, garlic, salt and pepper. On hot grill fry quickly both sides for 1-2 minutes. The seasoned Portobello mushrooms replace very well meat in hamburgers offering a vegetarian alternative.
- An exotic effect we can achieve with a sauce of brown sugar, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin and pepper. As a variation, various Far Eastern ready-made sauces can be used, eg Teriyaki sauce, tamari sauce or a simple barbecue sauce.
- Among the simplest solutions, if we put an egg in the upturned hat of a portobello mushroom so we make an English breakfast meal made of soft-boiled egg and mushroom. A little bacon fits to this excellently. It’s worth a try.
- Basil and garlic and various cheese spread with different flavors (feta, ricotta) fit perfectly with grilled mushrooms, do not be afraid to use it according to your taste!
