Independently two research also showed in 2010 that the regular consumption of mushroom has beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), global causes of death are lead by cardiovascular diseases. It is estimated that 17.5 million people die each year as a consequence.
It is predicted that this number will rise to 20 million by 2015. According to statistical data, in Hungary that disease is responsible for 50% of deaths, about 66,000 deaths annually have vascular origin. More than 50% of the Hungarian population have high cholesterol and even though the vast majority are aware of the consequences of this, they do make almost nothing.
Research has shown that mushroom consumption has immediate effect on blood cholesterol level, such as cardiovascular disease and stroke as well. The study also notes that ingredients with anti-inflammatory properties are also found in button mushrooms as well which can effectively prevent the formation of deposits in the arteries.
The active substances of mushrooms exert their effects similar to statin-based agents which block that enzyme which is responsible for the generation of the production of cholesterol in the body. With this inhibitory effect the active substance of button mushroom is able to keep lower the cholesterol level of blood. In addition, the anti-inflammatory active substances of button mushroom can also participate in the regulation of other processes. They reduce any inflammation of the blood vessels, keep blood pressure levels, and due to the antioxidant content they strengthen the immune system.
Already, the fact that there is no fat in button mushroom, it is rich in fiber and potassium but low in sodium, it is favorable to the functioning of the heart, the health of our blood vessels.
So eat more mushrooms, preferably 2-3 times a week, about 200 g per person. This amount is sufficient to actively do something about the health of our hearts!
